Avatar: Two Brothers

Overpowered

The two young benders were now able to catch their breath after a series of exciting events. Chloe was especially ecstatic for what they had accomplished. “We did it Da-Wei! We took down the great snake shark!’

Da-Wei was glad to be alive, as he felt the battle was way too close for comfort. “You know you could have saved us both a lot of trouble if you smacked down those trees quicker.”

“Hey! You try knocking down those giant trees!” They continued their usual disagreement but their comical arguments would soon come to a halt. As they were still at each other, the trees that Chloe knocked down began to move.

Both the benders slowly motioned their head to where the beast was buried but was now bursting from the pile of trees. Chloe and Da-Wei readied themselves to go another round against their enraged foe but they were out of ideas.

The beast stared them down but as it was about to strike, a person in a cloak appeared between them. Chloe and Da-Wei weren’t sure how to approach the situation, not knowing if the newcomer was a friend or foe but the creature wasted no time. It pounced on its new target immediately but it would instantly regret its decision.

The jaws of the beast were wide open, unleashing a deafening roar that knocked down the hood of the mysterious person. When the cover came down, the person under the hood was a girl who looked to be around Da-Wei and Chloe’s age. Although she had some human qualities, it was clear from her orange eyes and her pale-blue skin, that she wasn’t human.

As the jaws came down to crunch the mysterious girl, she easily jumped out of the way. She then appeared at the blind side of the beast and extended her right arm to impale the creature with her hand. However, her hands weren’t like any normal human hands, they had scales on them and razor sharp claws, similar to that of a reptile. Her claws easily shred through the tough shark skin, severely injuring the great beast as it fell to the ground and remained motionless.

Chloe was amazed, she was hoping that the fighter was on their side so she could learn from her. However, Da-Wei was not as optimistic. He had a bad feeling about this unfathomably strong girl, and when he saw a tattoo near her neck with a symbol, it confirmed his worries. The symbol was the exact same as the assassin he encountered back in Ruthar’s quarters.

“Chloe, we have to go now!” She was confused as to what he was saying but before she could ask, the ferocious lady spoke.

“Hey, you there! Do you have the avatar with you?” She directed her question towards them. He paused to think of the best response but before anything could come out of his mouth, Chloe jumped in.

“Wait a minute! We don’t even know who you are! You can’t just go asking a question like that!” Da-Wei breathed a bit easily as Chloe bailed him out of an uncomfortable situation.

The powerful girl who took down the mighty beast replied confidently that her name was Ruvnia and she was told by her sister to track down the two benders that fell into the forest. That was when Da-Wei connected the events together. The one that attacked them when they were on Mikayla, was Ruvnia’s sister.

“Well, I can see neither of you have the Avatar. What a waste of time, I’m going back to my sister to help my sister then.”

When Da-Wei heard that, he remembered that Ruthar could be in danger. Worse off, if they let Ruvnia go, she would certainly go search for his master and he could not live with that outcome on his conscience.

With her back turned, Da-Wei blasts a huge gust of dust to stop her from leaving. She turned around and gave a glare towards her attacker. “Wrong move air bender!” Suddenly she charged at Da-Wei at such speed that he wasn’t ready for. Luckily, Chloe jumped in between them and used her earth bending to create an armor made of rocks to block Ruvnia’s power-packed punch.

After successfully blocking the attack, Da-Wei fired two air blasts from his palm to separate Ruvnia from Chloe. He then rushed to his friend to make sure she was alright. “Ha, you think that little attack would take me out?” He was relieved to hear Chloe sounding all positive but Chloe was hiding some of the pain from the last attack. Although she was able to block it, Ruvnia’s punch still dealt some residual damage.

Ruvnia gave off a nasty grin. Both Da-Wei and Chloe knew their chances of winning were slim. After all, they had much difficulty against the fallen snake shark, while their current foe decimated that beast in seconds. But they were not about to back down now.

Da-Wei rushed in first, attacking at his opponent with quick air jabs. He landed a few hits against Ruvnia but for some reason, his punches had little effect. When Da-Wei finished his combo, Ruvnia retaliated with her power punch but Da-Wei’s nimbleness allowed him to jump out of the way.

Annoyed by his tactic, Ruvnia attempted to chase after the air bender but Chloe stomped on the ground and made her lose her balance momentarily. With Ruvnia less mobile, Chloe used the opportunity to sink her enemies’ legs into the ground.

As Ruvnia struggled to break free from her bind, Da-Wei inhaled a deep breath and channeled a majority of the air towards his legs. He jumped high into the air and came diving down to land the strongest air kick he could deliver. Following up the air kick, Chloe used her earthbending to control two giant rocks, placing one on Ruvnia’s left and the other on her right. Then Chloe clapped her hands together and the rocks crushed the trapped fighter.

Both benders waited and after seeing no movement, they let their guard down. “We did it!” Chloe jumped in excitement while Da-Wei fell to the ground.

“Did I do good?”

“Yes, Chloe you did good.”

Upon hearing the compliment, Chloe ran victory laps while Da-Wei questioned how she still had all that energy. He slowly got himself back up but as he did, he heard the sound of something cracking. He hoped it was just the ground beneath him but he was not so lucky. The two rocks that crushed Ruvnia were now breaking.

Chloe and Da-Wei prepared themselves for Ruvnia to slowly break through but instead she smashed the rocks in seconds and caught both the benders off guard. Instantly, she appeared between them, and kicked Da-Wei in the gut, sending him meters away.

Chloe tried to fight back but Ruvnia struck her in the chest before grabbing her by the neck. Da-Wei forced himself to get up as he saw his friend caught in a stranglehold. He immediately rushed back to try and save Chloe but with her other hand, Ruvnia stopped Da-Wei by grabbing his head. She then threw Da-Wei hard against the ground and kicked him aside.

“How boring, are you really an air bender? You are nowhere close to the air master we fought at the Western Air Temple.” What she said caught Da-Wei’s attention and he asked what happened to the air master but Ruvnia just laughed at him. She then turned her attention back to Chloe with her claws ready to finish the job.

As Ruvnia’s talons were about to make contact with Chloe, the ground beneath began to shake. From underground a fully grown crocomole emerged and snapped its jaws right at Ruvnia, forcing her to let go of Chloe. In the process, Chloe fell into the mouth of the beast and it descended back into the depths of the Earth, with the girl in its mouth.

Seeing his friend taken away by the creature put Da-Wei in massive shock. On the other hand, although Ruvnia was disappointed she couldn’t finish the earth bender, she still had one target left. “Don’t worry, weak air bender, I will put you out of your misery!”

She lunged forward with her claws and Da-Wei was completely defenseless but again, another crocomole sprung up from the ground and engulfed the air bender into its jaws. Both benders had been eaten by the two crocomoles leaving Ruvnia extremely dissatisfied. She was hoping to burn off more energy but instead, with the two benders gone, she walked away, returning to her sister.
