The Barren Wastelands

After a day or so journeying through the passage, they had arrived into the desolate lands. The area was as the name indicated, barren with no signs of life. There were rocks, small craters, and dust but water was absent. The only indication that there might have been life were the skulls of dead animals lying throughout the expanse.

Jawad pulled out his book which contained the map that would lead them to where the great wizard was trapped. He let everyone know that the location wasn’t very far. He led the way and everyone followed closely behind.

They had arrived into an area that was filled with stone pillars. “This is the place! The great wizard is encased in one of these pillars here.” He declared with confidence. There were too many stones to count and they weren’t going to have time to go through all of them because they were met with some unsolicited company. Kabir and Cole had appeared onto the scene.

It was a standstill as both sides were waiting for someone to act first. Unable to take the silence, Reina blurted out, “Where is Amisha?” The ice mage looked at the girl with a nasty smirk and snapped his fingers. Suddenly, a horde of dread knights appeared behind the two mages and a group of them were standing in front of an icy prison with Amisha unconscious inside.

“Come and get her if you dare.” provoked the ice mage. Reina was held back by Nadya, she knew rushing in would have been a fatal mistake. Leyyah tapped the three girls on their shoulders to get their attention. “Listen, we are going to save your friend but you have to listen to me.” The girls turned their attention to the paladin and focused her on her every word.

Leyyah: Our best chance is to set the great wizard free. Jawad will focus on locating and freeing him as soon as possible. The rest of us have to bide him some time. Maggie will stay alongside Jawad in case. Ranak, Aaryav, Ishaan, and Eshaan will keep Kabir occupied. That leaves you three to take care of Cole.

Maggie: Why do I have to get stuck with the mangolor again?

The Eishaans: Don’t worry you can count on us!

Ranak and Aaryav: Yes madam!

Nadya: But wait, what about you Leyyah?

Leyyah: I will take care of the mass of dread knights.

Reina: But there are so many of them…

Leyyah: I know, I feel sorry for them.

Jiyah: Wow, so cool. I like her style!

As they finished with their conversation, one of the dread knights raised its weapon and released a loud screeched, signaling the rest to charge. The entire team separated and took on their assignments. Jawad and Maggie got to work in locating the great wizard. The Eishaans and royal guards appeared before Kabir with their weapons drawn. Leyyah took the entire dread horde head on. And that left Nadya, Jiyah, and Reina to square off against the fire mage.
