Counter Attack

With his weapon lying on the ground and his hands up, the buiser units arrested Shaan as well. The three hostages were gathered together and about to be escorted out of the Skavolan Woods. As they turned around and made their way away from the Diamond Enclave, a plasma shot made contact against the chain Metadross.

That put the dagger Metadross on alert along with its underlings. They scanned their surroundings, but were so focused on searching the ground they never thought to look up. From above, something came crashing down with a thunderous landing, slamming the ground and creating a shockwave that took out all the Metadross minions.

After the ground settled down, Niall got the chance to look at who had saved them from their predicament. He was in for a surprise, as the person he saw standing up after smashing the ground was none other than David.

David moved towards Niall and Addyson to quickly break off their chains. As he was crushing the shackles with his hands, Niall could tell this cyborg looked exactly like the David he knew but at the same time, something about him felt very different.

“Hey David, is everything alright?” Niall questioned. After breaking everyone free, David got Shaan’s sniper and threw it to him. “There isn’t time to explain. For now, our top priority is to take out the giant cannon unit.” Addyson, Niall and Shaan asked him to elaborate. “The Metadross came to eliminate the amazon tribe. That mech unit won’t stop until it completes its mission.”

Upon hearing David’s words, Addyson jumped to her feet. “I must warn everyone before it's too late.” She ran off urgently before Niall could stop her. “I’m going to take out the cannon unit. You two make sure Addy and the rest of the Amazonians are safe!” After those words, David flew off towards his target.

Niall and Shaan began to make their way to catch up with Addyson. Unfortunately, the red-eye and pink-visor Metadross were standing in their way. Shaan held his sniper rifle tight in both hands but Niall was limited to only his left hand. He was also feeling the burdens of fighting against someone he knew.

With his comrades holding the fort, David had a clear path to carry out his objective. However, as he got closer to the target, a mass of aerial drones appeared to protect their siege artillery. With an insurmountable number of enemies, David called on Siri to help him.

Siri scanned the sky for every aerial drone within range and had them all locked on. After routing power to David’s shoulders, two missile pods appeared ready to be fired. Instantly, David unleashed the barrage of missiles that took out every single drone in the air. Siri was thrilled with joy as they successfully took out a massive wave of enemies. However, David kept her calm, avoiding the trap of a premature celebration.

David was now staring at the giant cannon unit that was still charging up. Knowing the missiles weren’t going to have much effect, Siri began switching power to his right arm, charging up for one ultimate plasma blast.

It took a few minutes, but once his right arm was fully charged, David released the attack right through the siege unit. The blast pierced a massive hole through the armor of the colossus robot creating a shattering noise that could be heard throughout the battlefield. All the Amazonians, Niall, Shaan, and the two elite Metadross all turned their attention towards the fall of the titanic unit.

Most of the Amazonians began jumping in celebration. Priya could see Addyson making her way towards the group and began to run up to her. Niall and Shaan felt relief as the two elite Metadross standing before them looked hesitant about their next action.

David began to turn around to head back towards his allies. However, as he slowly boosted away, the colossal unit stopped falling and became operational again.

Both Siri and David couldn’t believe that their enemy was still functioning. David tried to quickly disable it again but before he could reach, the Metadross unit delivered one last artillery blast that blew past David. Siri managed to get an analysis of the attack and estimate its trajectory. “It's headed towards the Amazonians.” There was no way to stop it, David could only watch in despair as the blast headed for his friends.

Back on the ground, Priya and Addyson were running towards one another. Addyson was glad to see her friend again but she noticed a strange colour of light in the far distance coming towards them. Priya had not noticed that the artillery fire was headed in her direction. Addy yelled to grab Priya’s attention but Priya continued to move towards her.

The cannon fire was nearing, so Addyson quickly ran to Priya and grabbed her by the arm. She dragged her towards the opposite direction and ran as fast as she could, before throwing Priya towards a hidden alcove. Addyson tried to jump in but before she could, the blast struck the ground, creating a shockwave that sent her slamming against the rocky wall.

After firing its last attack, the gargantuan Metadross lost all its power and stumbled towards the ground. Not taking any more chances, David made sure he tore through the circuits of the siege unit with his bare hands.

The falling of the titan unit made a thunderous noise when it hit the ground. The chain-whirler Metadross saw the events that had transpired and began to withdraw. It activated its thrusters and fled the battlefield. The dagger Metadross was about to follow behind until it heard Niall’s voice, “Isabelle?” It looked back towards Niall for a moment before blasting off and disappearing into the sky.

With the invasion over, and the Metadross cleared, David returned to the ground and reconvened with Niall and Shaan. The three were glad to see one another in one piece without any major wounds. Their reunion would be cut short as the Amazonians rushed to surround them with their weapons ready. Shaan was ready with his weapon, but David and Niall were conflicted. They didn’t want to harm the Amazonians but they weren’t a fan of returning to their jail cell.

The situation seemed tense but the Amazonian warriors did not make a move until they were issued a command. Finally, Priya appeared with her glaive held tightly in her dominant hand. She pointed the sharp end of her weapon towards the three men for a few seconds before sticking her weapon to the ground. She then went down on one knee and bowed in gratitude for what the three had done.

Soon after, every Amazonian warrior placed down their weapon and bowed to pay their respect. “Well that’s more like it!” Shaan said in excitement but received an elbow to the gut from Niall. David tried to tell everyone that they didn’t have to kneel but they remained on their knees.

“Thank you for fighting alongside our tribe even when we treated you as enemies. The three of you are brave warriors and have earned the respect of everyone here. Please do not take the lives you have saved today lightly.” Priya announced on behalf of her tribe.

David accepted their gratitude while Niall asked about Addyson’s status. Priya informed them that she was unconscious and had suffered some injuries but she would eventually make a full recovery. Niall and David felt relieved to know their friend was okay and no longer in exile from her tribe.

Priya offered the three to spend the night at the Diamond Enclave before they continued on their journey but David politely declined. He knew the Amazonians were in rough shape after such a devastating attack. Priya appreciated their concerns and let them know that they would be welcome back if they returned.
