Valor Village

As they were making their way to Valor Village, Armaan began to ask Duncan many questions that he had on his mind:

Armaan: You are Sergeant Duncan! Which means the other two with you were Commander Jovan and Corporal Gurshaan!

Duncan: Ha. I haven’t been called sergeant in awhile but yes those were the titles we had at one point.

Armaan: I read from the history books you lead them into fighting a huge army of pokemon into the forbidden forest. It said you guys gave your life to save the city.

Duncan: Is that what they are saying about us? Hopefully people still read books these days.

Armaan: This is awesome, you guys are still alive! But what happened? The story said that there were alot of pokemon and they completely overpowered you. How did you all survive?

Duncan: We are about to enter the village. Once you get in, you will begin to understand what is really going on.

As they made it over the hill, they entered the village where there were fields of children playing with their pokemon. There were Growlithes, Eevees, Vulpixs, Skittys, Bulbasaurs, Squirtles, Charmanders, Togepis, Dratinis, Piplups, and even Pikachus. The place had a very Utopia feel to it, one that Armaan had only read in history books. As he was watching the children run around with their pokemon, Duncan spoke, “You should call out your pokemon. I’m sure it will enjoy it.” Armaan concurred, calling out Greninja from its pokeball. It was initially overwhelmed by all the pokemon but after a couple of pokemon approached it with a welcoming heart, it began to feel right at home and played with the other pokemon.

After some time, Duncan alerted Armaan that they should keep going. Seeing Greninja was still having fun with its new friends, Armaan decided to let Greninja stay for the time being while he continued on with Duncan. As they walked, they eventually came to a hut in the village that was very distinct from all the others. After entering, they were met with two young girls who were the same age at Armaan. Beside them were two pokemon known as Arcanine and Alakazam. Both seemed calm but also vigilante of Armaan’s presence. Duncan began to kneel on one knee and Armaan followed suit.

Duncan: Chieftain Gunraj, the visitor here is named Armaan.

Gunraj: There is no need to kneel, both of you rise. Hi Armaan, my name is Gunraj and over here beside me is Neha, the…

Neha: I’M THE TOWN CRAZY LADY!

Gunraj: Ahem, what she means to say is she is the seer of this town.

Armaan: Wait, you are the chieftain and she’s the seer? But you are both just kids.

Neha: Who are you to be talking like that to our chieftain?!

Duncan: Chieftain Gunraj and Seer Neha, me and my crew found this stranger with Aumber. She was protecting him as an ally and she said he needs to go see the one who lives up in the mountains.

Neha: Wait what? Why would she do that?

Duncan: I’m not completely sure, but he does have a pokemon companion who is playing with the other pokemon and children in our village as we speak.

Neha: THIS KID HAS A POKEMON?!

Gunraj: What kind of pokemon do you have?

Armaan: I have a Greninja!

Neha: You have a what?! No! Impossible! This can’t be right!

Gunraj: Could you please bring your pokemon so that we could see it?

(Duncan and Armaan quickly leave and return with Greninja)

Gunraj: Well there is no doubt about it, this is the Greninja you spoke about in your visions isn’t it Neha?

Neha: There has to be another or maybe some sort of mistake! There’s no way a kid like him could be the one!

Armaan: I’m so confused! What are you all talking about?!

Gunraj: I guess it’s only fair to share with you our history. Follow me.

Gunraj told Duncan and Neha to stay behind while she took Armaan along with her. Neha was not content with the idea but Gunraj assured her everything was fine as she would take Arcanine along with her. She guided Armaan back to the area where he saw all the children and the pokemon playing and as they were walking Gunraj was about to begin sharing their history:

Armaan: Not to raise suspicion or anything but your two assistants have a point, why would you trust after meeting just once?

Gunraj: Aumber is a pretty good judge of character, if she trusts you then I can too.

Armaan: Oh, I guess that makes sense.

Gunraj: Plus if you try anything I trust Arcanine can take on you and your pokemon

Armaan: So what is going on around here? This village seems very peaceful and all compared to everywhere else I’ve seen in the forest.

Gunraj: Long ago this forest used to be very vibrant and teeming with life. There were many villages and tribes that got along well together. Pokemon were everywhere in the forest and many of them became our greatest companions. People and pokemon lived alongside one another and even fought one another in fierce battles and competitions but all in good sport. Everything in the forest was going great, until the day the meteor appeared.

It came crashing down leaving a massive crater in the middle of the forest. The Chieftains from each tribe gathered a group of their most trusted warriors along with their pokemon to survey the impacted area and to find out what caused the catastrophe.

A few days later, the pokemon returned but many of the warriors were missing and all the Chieftains were gone. The few returning warriors came back with horrifying news that the meteorite was draining the life from the forest and also took the lives of all the chieftains. If left unattended the meteorite would have devoured all life in the forest. So the remaining adults of each tribe banded together in a final attempt to destroy the meteorite. As a contingency plan, they had some of the pokemon guide the children far away into the forest. The mission proved to be very costly and the meteorite was never destroyed but they managed to exile the object of destruction deep within an encrypted temple. The pokemon that survived were told never to allow any humans from outside near the forest again.

Armaan had been overwhelmed with the story shared by the young chieftain. He had a difficult time processing it but he couldn’t deny that some part of him knew she was telling the truth. What still caused concern for him was what Neha had mentioned earlier about him being ‘the one.’ Gunraj explained that Neha had the ability to see glimpse of the future. She said she saw a Greninja and a trainer working together to claim victory over this calamity. The chieftain apologized for her assistant’s rudeness as she had high hopes that the mysterious trainer would have been someone more mature.

After the mass of information that had been shared to him, Armaan was taken to his own place to rest and recuperate for the next day. He had a lot going through in his mind after everything that had happened. Were the pokemon attacks against the city to frighten them further away from the meteorite? Was everything that Gunraj told him true? If the meteorite was such a destructive force, why would General Corrin be so adamant in obtaining it? As he was losing himself in his thoughts, Greninja popped out of his pokeball pounding its chest. Armaan smiled and realized that right now he was worrying and overthinking too much. What was most important was that they both rest up in order to face the day ahead. Perhaps the person Aumber mentioned would have more answers to what was going on.

The next day at 5am in the morning, Armaan was jumped out of bed by a surge of cold water that fell on his body. Not too far was Neha laughing and giggling with her pokemon Alakazam that had used its psychic powers to drop a bucket of water on Armaan. Armaan was thinking to himself that this person reminded him of someone eerily similar from back at The Relevant. After she had her laugh, she ran away and Armaan got ready to meet with Duncan to see what was next on his journey.

As he walked towards the exit of the village he met Duncan and Neha who were standing there waiting for him. Duncan was there to convey instructions from Aumber to follow the path and climb the mountain ahead to his next destination. She would be waiting for him at the summit.

Neha: Good luck on your journey!

Armaan: Why are you being so nice all of a sudden?

Neha: Oh no reason. It's totally not the fact that if you blunder this test I will be happy to know you aren’t the hero to save us from this disaster!

Duncan: Lady Neha I believe Chieftain Gunraj needs to speak with you urgently.

(Neha leaves)

Armaan: Thanks for doing that.

Duncan: Pay no attention to her. She has a good heart but these times have been tough on everyone.

Armaan: I still have a question for you Commander Duncan. You and your soldiers have been healthy for awhile now, so why haven’t you returned to the city or the Relevant?

Duncan: After being surrounded by the pokemon in our battle protecting the city, the pokemon stood their ground but never attacked us. As we were fainting from exhaustion the pokemon moved aside and allowed the people of this village to help us. Aumber, Gunraj, and Neha took care of us and allowed us to rest in their village until our wounds healed. They shared their hospitality and their stories with us and after seeing how the pokemon and people in the village got along, I made the decision to stay here and protect this place. Jovan and Gurshaan were free to make their choice but as you can see they elected to stay as well.

Armaan: So what are your thoughts about the meteorite and General Corrin?

Duncan: The general is a tough person to read at times but I do believe he is a man of character and is doing his best to protect the people of the city. As for the meteorite and what we have been told, I can’t say I have a clear answer.

Armaan: From the stories I remembered there were four of you that left to draw the pokemon away. But I only saw three of you, what happened to the last?

Duncan: To be honest I’m not too sure myself. We have tried to look for him after our wounds heal but we never found him or his body. We have always had our differences but he is not one to fall easily and I hope we will meet again.

With that, Armaan continued on the path towards his next challenge.
