Battle of Rivals

Aumber and Armaan quickly made their way down the mountain and towards the village. As they got closer to the village, they were met with many Relevant Soldiers blocking their way. Aumber and Absol were quick to strike and immobilize the soldiers without severely injuring them. Armaan and Greninja on the other hand were very hesitant. After the area seemed clear, Aumber turned to speak with Armaan, “Listen, you are either helping save the village or you are an enemy, which one is it?” Armaan stood still trying to pull himself together to give a decisive answer but as he was about to speak Greninja, jumped in and pushed them to safety from an explosive cannon fire aimed at where they were standing.

As Armaan and Aumber were dusting themselves back up, they heard a familiar voice:

Zaid: Evil villagers beware! I am the hammer of justice and my Blastoise is the artillery of hope! Together we will thwart your maniacal schemes of chaos! My name is the last thing you will… Armaan? You are alive!?

Armaan: I was about to say the same thing! I was worried about you, Chloe and Da-wei!

Zaid: We are all good! Oh hey Aumber what brings you out here?

Armaan: Oh right you don’t know yet. Turns out Aumber is the Night Rider the whole time and…

Zaid: Wait, I saw you running with her just now. Armaan did you side with the enemy?

Armaan: What? No Zaid it's not like that! Listen it's all just a big misunderstanding…

Aumber: We are wasting time here! Let us pass or else I won’t hesitate to eliminate you.

Zaid: Ha! A worthy opponent! I, Big Z shall accept your…

Armaan interrupted Zaid in the middle of his sentence and told Aumber to rush to the village. He would stay behind and try to reason with Zaid. Without delay, Aumber hopped on her Absol and made haste towards the village. That left Armaan and Greninja standing face to face against Zaid and his Blastoise. Armaan attempted to explain the entire situation but Zaid did not listen. He pulled out his weapon, a war hammer, and ready himself for battle with a smile on his face. “I have been waiting a long time for this Armaan. You knew this day would come.” Armaan nodded slowly, “Alright Zaid, but I warn you, we ain’t holding back.”

Armaan knew Blastoise wasn’t fast so he called for Greninja to use ‘Agility.’ Despite moving at a blistering speed, Zaid stayed calm and responded with Blastoise firing an Aura Sphere from its cannon. Greninja was quick and should have been enough to easily evade the attack but the sphere hit Greninja regardless. “Sorry Armaan, Aura Sphere doesn’t miss so it doesn’t matter how fast Greninja is.” Armaan was shocked, he had no idea Zaid had him figured out so easily, but he knew nothing about Zaid’s strategies. Greninja bounced back up and rushed toward Blastoise again and once again it fired an Aura Sphere in response. However this time, Armaan anticipated the attack, jumped in between the attack and reflected the attack right back at Blastoise. As the attack was about to hit Blastoise, Zaid swung his hammer and deflected the sphere away.

After that exchange, Armaan knew that this battle wasn’t going to be as easy as anticipated. He was puzzled as to why he was having so much trouble against Zaid after being around him through their journey. Then it dawned on him, he had never truly seen Zaid and Blastoise battle before. “I thought you said you weren’t holding back. I know you still got that super power from the battle with Darkrai, bring it out already!” Zaid said with excitement. Armaan was still reluctant because they hadn’t completely mastered the technique yet. However, there weren’t many options left and so Armaan and Greninja began to synchronize and the aura appeared on both of them with Greninja obtaining a water sword.

Without wasting any more time, Zaid reached in his pocket and pulled out a stone. It was the same stone that Zaid was given and everyone thought was useless. However, as Zaid put down the stone and slammed his hammer against it, the stone began to glow a mysterious rainbow colour. A burst of energy began to radiate from the stone and all the power was being absorbed by Blastoise. It began to take a new form, getting a large cannon on its back and gaining two side cannons on both its arms. The stone was none other than a mega stone and now they were up against Mega-Blastoise.

Not wanting to allow Blastoise to fire off his cannons, Greninja and Armaan sprinted towards their target. As they got closer, Zaid commanded Blastoise to use it’s strongest move ‘Hydro Cannon’ but it wasn’t aimed at Greninja or Armaan. Instead, the massive surge of water was fired up into the air, scattering up in the sky and raining down heavy drops of water that was strong enough to split the ground! Armaan used the shield to cover both him and Greninja from taking severe damage. After using such an attack Armaan knew that Blastoise would need time to recharge its strength, but as he removed his shield from his sight, he saw that Mega Blastoise was all recharged and ready to strike again.

Zaid was standing on the opposite side with a great big smile. Armaan had to hand it to him, Zaid figured out the perfect way to use the strongest pokemon attack without wearing out his pokemon. On top of that, he was impressed with Zaid’s strategizing as they have neutralized all their effort so far. However, there was no time for reflecting, Blastoise fired another Hydro Cannon up into the air. Armaan was preparing to put the shield over him and Greninja again but this time Zaid stormed between them with his hammer, separating the two. “Are you crazy?! You are going to get caught in your own attack!” Armaan cried out. Zaid kept swinging the hammer to prevent Armaan from using his shield. Finally, Zaid had Armaan holding the shield against his hammer. While they were stuck in the deadlock and as the ‘Hydro Cannon’ was about to fall down and hit them all, Zaid with a grin on his face said, “Game over.”

After the attack, Zaid held his hammer firmly to the ground so he could gather himself back up, “How is this possible? You both are still conscious and able to battle!” He said in disbelief. What happened before the ‘Hydro Cannon’ connected was Greninja was able to rush in and use a move known as ‘Mat Block’ which protected both him and Armaan from the impact of the Hydro Cannon just before it hit them. Zaid gripped his hammer ready to battle again as Blastoise prepared for a third and final ‘Hydro Cannon.’

Armaan knew that Greninja wouldn’t be able to use his ‘Mat block’ technique to save them again. However, Armaan had an idea and Greninja was right on board with it. The ‘Hydro Cannon’ was released into the air so Armaan and Greninja wasted no time bolting towards Blastoise. Zaid blocked their way as his hammer collided with Greninja’s water sword. Neither would give the other the upper hand so Armaan came charging in and bashed Zaid aside with the shield. That freed Greninja to make its way toward Blastoise.

“You are too late! The attack is about to hit us all and you aren’t going to make it out of the blast radius in time!” Zaid exclaimed as he could sense victory was near. Armaan began to bend his knees and wind up his right arm that was holding the shield. Zaid thought he was going to use the shield to block the attack but Armaan wasn’t thinking defense, he was going all in for an offensive finish. He threw his shield with all his might right at Greninja. “What are you doing?! Aren’t you going to protect yourself?!” This is insane!” Zaid shouted. “In order to beat a crazy strategist like you, I need an even crazier strategy of my own.” Armaan replied. As the shield was about to hit Greninja in the back, Greninja jumped up and landed right on the shield using it as a hoverboard. With the velocity of the shield, Greninja was now quick enough to escape the range of the bombardment. With its new speed, it drove the water sword right at Mega Blastoise. In one strike, Mega Blastoise was taken out and as the blitz of water came crashing down both Armaan and Zaid were knocked out and unable to battle. Greninja was the only one left standing, which meant Armaan and Greninja were the victors.

Greninja helped Armaan get back to his feet after an exhausting battle. Zaid and Blastoise were still unconscious from the match and Armaan wasn’t comfortable just leaving them both alone in their current condition. With the help of Greninja, they moved both of them under the covers of the trees and away from harm’s way. As they were about to depart, Zaid awoke and assessed the situation around him. From what he remembered, he knew who had won the battle. Zaid accepted defeat and thanked Armaan for an amazing battle, hoping for a rematch someday. Seeing that Zaid was awake, Armaan and Greninja were about to head out but Zaid had some parting words for them. “Hey Armaan, I don’t know what the General is up to, but he definitely wants the meteorite for more than just to help the city. I had my doubts but after battling you I’m sure of it. You have to stop him.” With those words, Armaan appreciated what Zaid had to tell him and off they went towards the village.
