Pokemon Rebellion
Chapter 19
Breaking Through
Once they had entered the grounds of the encrypted temple that Neha spoke of, they all had to dismount for their mission. The horses had their reins tied to a tree while Absol and Arcanine were allowed to hide around the surroundings until they were needed. As they began sneaking quietly behind bushes and trees, they saw that the area was teeming with Relevant Soldiers patrolling the area. A head on battle would not have been the best approach so they were considering all their options.
Finally, Armaan spoke up and offered up an idea:
Armaan: I know it's very simple and it might sound very silly but I think we just need a massive distraction while the rest of us sneaks in.
Teenpaj: Oh I can smash things and yell really loud!
Aumber: Too obvious, there are too many of them, and they won’t fall for that one.
Reevmrak: I got an idea!
Aumber: What is it…?
Reevmrak: Just trust me it will work. I will be willing to be the distraction but I need two things!
Aumber: Tell me the plan now!
Aynat: Hey! Don’t talk to Reevmrak like that!
Armaan: Okay everyone! Stop! We don’t have enough time for this! Reevmrak, tell us what you need. I trust your plan.
Reevmrak: Ok first I need to borrow Arcanine for this plan.
Aumber: No...
Armaan: Aumber!
Aumber: Fine. What is the second condition?
Reevmrak: Since you are the Night Rider, could I please have your autograph?
With a big sigh, Aumber agreed and told Reevmrak to close his eyes. She then raises her hand and slaps him across the face leaving a giant red hand mark on his left cheek. Aynat jumped into a battle stance ready for revenge but Reevmrak stuck out his hand in front of her. “It's ok! I got slapped by the Night Rider! I will never wash this side of my face again!” He says in excitement.
The sky was beginning to darken but the soldiers were still patrolling on high alert. Suddenly Aynat came running in with fear in her voice to one of the guards. “Help! The Night Rider is here! He’s over there on his pokemon!” She yelled in terror. All the Relevant soldiers turned their attention towards the forest and they could see from afar the shadow of a rider and his pokemon. “Code Red! Get all forces, we need back-up for this one!” Announced one of the leading soldiers. All the soldiers began running towards the shadowy figure that ran off into the forest. Aynat followed the soldiers closely behind to make sure that they all left the camp.
Once the area was cleared, Aumber, Armaan, and Teenpaj made their way through the camp and toward the temple. “You think those two will be ok against that entire force?” Armaan asked. “If we don’t want their plan to be in vain let’s make sure we succeed on our mission.” Aumber replied. As they ran past the first area of the camp they were met with another opposition, one that Armaan was very familiar with, Captain Michelle. The Captain punches her fists against one another to signal that she would take on all three of them at once. However, Teenpaj jumped in front of both of them, “Sorry you two, this one is mine! I have been itching for a rematch! Go on ahead!” She said with confidence. Both Armaan and Aumber thanked her for her efforts and continued to press on.
As they continued further, they once again had their path impeded and this time by the high ranking Colonel Justine and Major Sam. Armaan was ready to fight alongside Aumber but she immediately told Armaan to forget this battle and process forward without her. Armaan was hesitant about the plan but Aumber had already made up her mind. She drew her katana and out of nowhere Absol appeared and fired a ‘dark pulse’ attack to distract the two opponents. Before Aumber began dashing toward her two targets she spoke one simple word to Armaan, “Go!” And turning away from the battle he ran as fast as he could without looking back.
Armaan was now all by himself as he proceeded towards the Encrypted Temple. He was brought to a halt as he was met by his former teammate Da-Wei who was blocking his path. “So you really did side with the enemy. I couldn’t believe it at first but now there is no doubt.” Armaan attempted to explain the situation to him, but even though his ears were open, Armaan’s words were not received. Da-Wei raised his gauntlets up, challenging Armaan to a battle. “Da-Wei, I know you are smarter than this. Even with Chloe you would have trouble taking me and Greninja on, so you can’t possibly expect to beat the both of us by yourself!” Armaan cried out. Da-Wei calmly replies, “I know, I’m just disappointed you fell so easily into this trap.” As he ended his sentence, Chloe ambushed Armaan and had him in a grappling hold, preventing him from reaching for his pokemon.
Armaan struggled with all his might but he was unable to break free of Chloe’s grasp. As he was being pinned down, Da-Wei made his way towards him and set his gauntlet to paralysis mode. Once he was within range, Da-Wei began to kneel down and prepare to make contact with Armaan’s shoulder with his right gauntlet. However, before he could make contact, a rock was thrown against Da-Wei’s head, diverting his attention in the direction where the rock came from. Both Chloe and Da-Wei saw a mysterious man that they did not recognize but Armaan did, it was Rice.
Rice: Armaan is that seriously you losing to that young lady?
Armaan: I’m sorry… I got…
Rice: sigh… I thought you were better than that…
Da-Wei: Excuse me, who are you?
Chloe: AND WHO ARE YOU CALLING YOUNG LADY?!
Rice: Oh I’m just a friendly neighbour just passing by. My apologies but it seems as if one of my students has caused some trouble. Could you please just let him go and we will be on our…
Before Rice could finish his sentence Da-Wei immediately raised his gauntlets directly at his new target. Da-Wei fired an electric blast right where the man was standing creating a huge impact with smoke coming out. As the smoke cleared, there was no body to be found until Chloe shouted, “Da-Wei behind you!” and Da-Wei turned around to see Rice just standing next to him. Rice just stood there not making a single move but Da-Wei felt a huge sense of unease. He couldn’t read this person’s movement at all. Chloe also felt anxious with the mysterious man so close to them but unlike Da-Wei she couldn’t restrain herself and rush towards her target leaving Armaan free.
Chloe began attacking Rice ferociously but unable to land a single hit. Da-Wei, unable to hold back any longer, joined in to help Chloe. They attacked with all the might and with great speed but couldn’t land a solid hit on this man. When they finally thought they were going to land simultaneously kicks right at him, he deflected both their shins with his hands and repelled them back. Armaan stood in awe watching, beginning to realize how Aumber got so strong under his training. “Ahem, don’t you have somewhere to be right now?” He hinted towards Armaan. Armaan snapped back into focus, he wanted to jump in to help but it was clear Rice had everything under control. So once again he turned away and headed towards the temple.
As Armaan left, Chloe and Da-Wei picked themselves up, dusted themselves off and readied themselves for another round.
Da-Wei: Brace yourself Chloe. I think this is the toughest battle we have ever been in.
Chloe: I KNOW! ISN’T THIS AWESOME! A CHALLENGE!
Rice: Haha good to see you are both in great spirit. You both remind me of each of your older brothers.
Da-Wei: Wait what?
Chloe: You know both our brothers?
Rice: Yes yes the resemblance is undeniable.
Da-Wei: Tell us where they are!
Chloe: YEAH! Or we will… you know… do that thing…
Da-Wei: Sigh....
Rice: Haha, amusing as always. How about a wager?
Da-Wei: Hmm?
Rice: You both have to throw all you got at me and if you can force me to use 30% of my power, I will tell you what I know.
Da-Wei: 30%?! Are you mocking us?
Chloe: ALRIGHT! I COMING AT YOU FULL FORCE!
And their battle ensues.
Finally, after countless distractions and obstacles in his path. Armaan could see the temple within his sights. The area of the temple had less trees in its surroundings indicating the meteorite was near. Armaan proceeded with caution, hiding behind large stones he could find to prevent from being seen. After some careful maneuvering, he finally saw General Corrin with Chieftain Gunraj nearby. Neither of them had noticed that Armaan was watching them in the distance.
“Well go on now, open the temple, we haven’t got all day.” He said in an unamused tone. Gunraj slowly approached the entrance of the temple but before she placed her hand on the side of the locked passage, she paused to ask the general, “What will you do once you obtain the meteorite?” Not in the mood for conversation the general immediately told Gunraj to stop wasting time and to open the door at once.
Meanwhile, Armaan was calculating his options on how to rescue Gunraj. He didn’t see any guards in the area and he knew the general wouldn’t leave himself completely defenseless like this. As he was mulling through all his thoughts, a hand was placed on his shoulder, which startled Armaan and made him jump. He readied to throw his pokemon thinking it was an enemy but instead it was someone who he didn’t expect to see, Neha along with her Alakazam.
Armaan: What are you doing here?! You are supposed to be back in the village staying safe!
Neha: I know but I couldn’t just sit by and do nothing! Please let me help! I’m already here!
Armaan: Sigh… Fine. Here’s the plan…
Gunraj begins to raise her hand and places it on the side of the entrance of the temple. They waited for a moment but nothing happened and the door of the temple remained sealed. “So it appears you lied to me. You now have twenty seconds to tell me who can open this door for me.” The general threatens her with his sword drawn out. Gunraj, refusing to talk, remained silent for the twenty seconds. The general shook his head and was disappointed in the choice she made so he began to raise his sword but before he could swing it down, Armaan and Greninja came jumping into the fray yelling, “Step away from the Chieftain and stay away from the meteorite! I will not let you use it for any malicious purposes!” He cried out with confidence. The general slowly turned around to face his opponents and with a smile he replied, “So kind of you to join us and right when I expected.” As he finished his sentence he threw a contraption that wrapped around Greninja’s arms and torso, tying them together. Greninja still had its legs to move but with a push of a button from the general, it sent a high voltage shock throughout its entire body causing it immense pain and rendering it unable to battle.
Armaan attempted to get near Greninja to disarm the device but General Corrin came swinging with his sword forcing Armaan to block with his shield. He was doing his best to hold his ground but the general only seemed to be getting stronger with each consecutive strike. “How disappointing Armaan, I didn’t think such a simple trap would work on you.” The general spoke as they were in a deadlock between the general’s sword and Armaan’s shield. The draw lasted for only a short moment before General Corrin overpowered Armaan, grabbed him by the collar of his suit and threw him against Gunraj. As they both tried to get up, the general had his sword upon them ready to strike. He raised sword ready to finish the two but suddenly he lost control of his entire body and couldn’t move. From a distance, Neha’s Alakazam had used its psychic powers in order to prevent the general from moving. With the general immobilized, Neha rushed towards Gunraj and they gave each other a big hug. The two had finally been united.
As Neha and Gunraj were catching up, Armaan took the remote from the general’s pocket and disarmed the device that had been used to restrain Greninja. Once Greninja was freed, Armaan approached General Corrin, “Well looks like it's the end of the line for you general. We will just bring you back to the city and…” before Armaan could finish his sentence the general laughed. Armaan thought the general might have finally gone crazy but that was far from the case. “I studied, trained and prepared for years to combat against these pokemon, this mere psychic can’t hold me.” Suddenly his left arm was able to move and he reached for an object in his belt. Armaan cried out to warn Neha and her Alakazam but it was too late. The general was able to grab what he wanted from his pocket and drop it onto the floor. It was a pokeball of his own and once it hit the floor, it opened and released a pokemon that Armaan didn’t expect to see, the colossal Tyranitar.
With a mighty roar, everyone had to brace themselves and cover their ears. It then fired a ‘hyper beam’ right at Neha’s Alakazam, knocking it out in just one shot. That allowed the general to move freely and once again he reclaimed Chieftain Gunraj as his hostage. Armaan and Greninja tried to intervene but the Tyranitar slammed its tail, blocking their way. With Gunraj being held by General Corrin he commanded Neha to open the gate to the temple. Seeing the sword near Gunraj, Neha decided to walk up towards the temple and as she placed her hand onto the side, the door began to open. He commanded Neha to go ahead and lead him through the temple as he continued to hold Gunraj by his sword. All three of them entered the temple and out of Armaan’s sight. He knew if he wanted to save everyone he had to first defeat the foe that has haunted him for so long.
Greninja began throwing water shurikens at the giant pokemon while maintaining its distance. Although water attacks should have been super effective against a rock type like Tyranitar, the attacks didn’t faze it at all. Armaan tried to call upon his battle bond powers to strengthen Greninja’s attack but nothing happened. Greninja didn’t transform and they weren’t in complete sync with one another. Not wasting any time, the Tyranitar stomped the ground causing giant stones to spike from the ground and landing a hit to both Greninja and Armaan who were sent flying and landing hard to the ground. As they both slowly gathered themselves up, they noticed the Tyranitar readying to strike again but before it could unleash another attack, a surge of water hit the side of its face diverting its focus. “Have no fear, Big Z is here!” Zaid had arrived.
Armaan never thought he would be so happy to see Zaid’s goofy hero poses. Immediately Zaid got Blastoise to mega evolve and fire a ‘hydro pump’ right at the mighty beast. Greninja joined in as well and released its own ‘hydro pump’ to combine it with Blastoise landing a direct hit against Tyranitar. Their united effort seemed to cause some discomfort to their opponent but they knew they needed more firepower than that. “Alright Armaan time to stop holding back, use your battle bond power so we can get this over with.” Zaid encouraged. However, Armaan began scratching his head in nervousness and trying to find the words to explain to Zaid. Another hyper beam was fired from the titan causing Blastoise and Greninja to disperse. Zaid quickly grabbed Armaan behind some rocks for cover while their pokemon held off their giant foe.
Zaid: You what?!
Armaan: I uhh… Can’t use the battle bond right now.
Zaid: You picked a real good time to not be able to use your strongest move…
Armaan: Hey Zaid I have a question?
Zaid: Yes we are still rivals Armaan…
Armaan: No not that Zaid. I was wondering how do you mega evolve your pokemon so easily like that?
Zaid: Huh? What do you mean?
Armaan: Like what goes on in your mind when you do that?
Zaid: Uhhh, to be honest I don’t think about it too much.
Armaan: That helps, a lot…
Zaid: No seriously. When I mega-evolve Blastoise I don’t think about anything else but the battle in front of me. I just sort of, do it.
Armaan: Oh. That actually really does help.
Zaid: You’re welcome. Now please tell me you can battle bond now or at least have a plan to deal with this monstrosity of a problem we got.
Armaan: I don’t think I can battle bond with Greninja just yet but I do have a plan.
As Armaan and Zaid rejoined the battle, The Tyranitar’s rage caused a mighty sandstorm to emerge making it super difficult for them to see. Blastoise and Greninja were both commanded to ‘rain dance’ and their joint effort vanquished the sandstorm and brought in a downpour of rain. Annoyed about the weather change, the Tyranitar stomped the ground causing a wave of stone to spike towards its foes. Greninja used the stones as jumping pads and leap through every single one and up into the air. Blastoise then used its signature move, ‘Hydro Cannon’ launching the attack up in the air and falling back down as massive rain drops. Greninja then used ‘Ice Beam’ on every single drop that it could, turning them all into giant icicles.
Seeing the barrage of ice that was about to collide on it, The Tyranitar began breathing fire from its mouth using ‘Fire Blast’ to counter all the icicles. Greninja slammed the icicles, directing them towards the Tyranitar. Some clashed and were evaporated by the fire attacks but some made its way through and made a direct hit at the colossal beast. Greninja kept launching the icicles to keep the pressure up and as the Tyranitar took more hits, it began to fall on one knee. Noticing that this was their opportunity, Zaid called Blastoise for an all out ‘Hydro Cannon’ and this one was going to be a direct attack right at the behemoth. As the attack made contact against Tyranitar its entire body finally fell down to the ground. The goliath has finally been beaten.
Putting in all their energy into the last attack, Blastoise reverted back to its normal state and Zaid collapsed onto the ground. Armaan quickly ran to see their status. Thankfully Blastoise was just extremely fatigue after the last attack and Zaid was just trying to catch his breath again because of his asthma. “Don’t you have somewhere to be? You better get going.” Zaid told Armaan as he was slowly getting his breathing back to normal. Armaan thanked Zaid for his assistance and he promised him that they would have another rematch once this was all over. The two rivals saluted each other before Armaan and Greninja continued on into the Encrypted Temple.
