New Adventure

The next day had arrived, the sun was barely up but Da-Wei was already on his way back to the temple. Judging by how serious Ruthar spoke to him yesterday, he really would be left behind if he didn’t make it to the rendezvous place on time.

When he arrived at the temple fields, it was finally sunrise, meaning he was on time. However, Da-Wei looked around the field but no one was there. Panic overtook his body as he started to second guess himself. “Did Ruthar leave without him? Did he get the meeting time wrong? Or perhaps it's somewhere else in the temple that I misheard?”

He started pacing frantically in the field, driving himself crazy. Then out of nowhere, Ruthar appeared behind him and blew a huge gust of wind to knock Da-Wei on the ground.

“Master Ruthar, where have you been? I thought you left without me!”

“Sorry Da-Wei, I overslept a bit.” He yawned as he spoke.

Da-Wei couldn’t believe it, but he realized it was better than the alternative. So he let it slide and got ready to leave the temple fields.

“Where are you going?” Ruthar asked as he watched the young air bender walk away.

“Getting started on our journey to the Earth Kingdom.”

Ruthar bursted into laughter. “What’s so funny?” Da-Wei asked, confused.

“Da-Wei, did you really think we were going to walk all the way to Ba Sing Se?”

“Uh, yes? No? Maybe?”

“Please, Da-Wei. At my age, my bones are growing weak and my body aches more than it used to.”

“So how are we going to get there?”

Ruthar put two fingers into his mouth and whistled through his mouth. Within seconds, a sky bison landed beside Ruthar. As he was petting her, Da-Wei’s jaw dropped.

“Oh right you never met her before. Da-Wei, this is Mikalya.” As Ruthar introduced the two, Mikayla stuck out her tongue and licked Da-Wei, covering him in saliva.

“Ugh…”

“Haha, don’t worry, she likes you.”

As he shook off some of the liquid that was on him, Da-Wei asked, “Can we go now?” Ruthar stopped for a moment, “Almost, could you please help me load that box over there?”

Da-Wei went over to the wooden box. It was secured tightly and he couldn’t see what was on the inside. “Hurry up Da-Wei, we don’t have all day.” With Ruthar rushing him, he quickly grabbed the box and began to lift it up. The box was heavier than he anticipated but he managed to get it on the sky bison’s back.

Once their supplies, the baby avatar, and the both of them were onboard, Ruthar gave Mikayla the signal, and she began to take off from the ground. They had left Zuan Shi and into a world of new adventures.
