One Chance to Turn it All Around
As Dragkonis began to flare up, he noticed that the clouds were clearing and a radiant light from the sky began to shine down on all the fighters in the arena. A wave of healing began to flow through all the brave warriors, mending their wounds and giving them the energy to battle again.
One by one they began to stand up with their weapons in hand, ready for combat. Dragkonis was finally beginning to show signs of fear, taking a few steps back from the army that stood before him. “This is impossible! You are all supposed to be too weak to stand! How can this be happening?” As he was backing down, he finally found the source of where the healing light was coming from, Reina.
They could all feel the tide of battle turning. Dragkonis used what power he had left to summon as many dread knights for reinforcements. Every warrior in the arena banded together ready to clear a path for Reina, Jiyah and Nadya.
Everyone prepared themselves for the final strike. Rayan went up to an elevated platform and grabbed the speaking trumpet. Getting into character, he took a deep breath before speaking through the trumpet, “Ladies and gentlemen! Are you ready for the comeback of the century? The brave warriors of Grasix are about to engage in battle against the evil Dragkonis! Who will prevail in this epic clash of good vs evil?!” As Rayan finished his sentence, Remy snuck up behind him and took the trumpet. “YOU CAN DO IT! BEAT THIS DRAGON OUT OF OUR REALM!” he yelled as his voice grew a bit raspy.
After the inspiring message from Remy, the small audience of four began to cheer from the stance as loud as they could. These were the four people in the audience and they each had some motivational words for the fighting warriors:
Sediya the Veterinarian: “Take this guy down for Timbit!”
Jasmine the former Giant: “Show this dragon who’s boss!”
Shawn the Merchant: “Get rid of this nuisance and I will give you a special deal at my shops!”
Pidiya the owner of the Tavern: “Destroy this monster like how you wrecked my tavern!”
With the mass of dread knights charging in, Birkaran the ogre took the frontlines and swung his club eliminating multiple enemies at once, allowing everyone to continue through. With the second waves of minions coming; Maggie, Amisha, and Zara elected to take on this group. Each of them held out their weapons, Maggie’s cutlass, Amisha’s rapier, and Zara’s broad sword. They slashed away at their enemies one by one and whenever their weapons became dull or useless, Bharath was nearby to throw them a new weapon. Riya was even around to help out when Maggie was caught off-guard by her enemies.
With the two waves of dread hordes being taken care of, that left Dragkonis alone for everyone else. Cole fired a volley of firebolts to distract the dragon. That allowed Kabir to channel his ice blast and strike at the dragon’s wings preventing it from flying. Eshaan and Ishaan were up next, they each had a rope tied to a grappling hook in their hands. They both threw it at the dragon’s front legs, one on the right and one on the left, to further restrict its movement as they held on tight.
The mighty beast seemed heavily restrained, so Reina, Nadya and Jiyah saw this as the time to engage directly against Dragkonis. “Fools! You tried this strategy before and failed! I will break free from this once again!” He roared at them. The dragon unleashed a blaze of fire from his mouth, aiming at the three girls approaching him but Aaryav and Ranak intercepted the attack and blocked the inferno with their shields.
Reina, Nadya, and Jiyah thanked the royal guards for their efforts and continued on. Dragkonis was ready to strike again but Jawad used his magic to conjure up a gigantic mango right above the dragon and then dropped the heavy fruit on the beast’s head.
The dragon was now lying down on its belly and its back was vulnerable. He continued to breathe fire against the three girls approaching him but he couldn’t land a hit and with each attack he was getting weaker.
Finally the three girls had reached their destination, they stood on the back of the titanic beast with its critical spot before them. “How? How could I lose to the likes of you? You are just a puny human!” He directed his comments as Reina.
She responded, “I might not be very strong but like you said, you are the dragon of deception. You draw your strength from messing with people’s minds and telling them lies. I drew my strength from everyone here and those who aren’t here who risked their lives. That is why you will never win.”
After those words were spoken, Nadya pulled out two of her swords, one she got from Bharath and the other she had since the beginning of her travels. She gave the first sword to Jiyah and the second one to Reina. Finally, she drew the sword that Leyyeh had given to her. The three girls held up their swords high into the air before simultaneously driving them into the back of the beast.
Dragkonis’s wound opened up and an uncontrollable out pour of energy began to release from him. “NOOOOOO!” roared the once mighty dragon. All his powers were beginning to fade away and it looked as if the epic battle was finally over.
