Fight of Our Lives

At the Grasix Arena, things were looking grim. Zara’s forces were being completely overwhelmed despite their hard fought efforts. The only ones left standing were: Rayan, Bharath, Elle Chandra, Zara, and a few archers.

Zara rallied her remaining troops together as the dread knights kept pushing. With their numbers so low, Rayan was forced to take a bow in his hands and join the fight. The rest of the archers rearranged themselves behind Zara and Elle Chandra who took the front lines. Bharath was doing his best to supply them with fresh weapons as they fought to stay alive.

With a swing of her broadsword, Zara took out 3 enemies in one slash. Following closely behind her was Elle Chandra, dual-wielding her axes and slices down two more. As more enemies continued to advance, the archers fired a volley of arrows to hold them back. However, one dread knight managed to sneak by everyone and got behind Zara. It was about to swing its sword at her back but thankfully, Rayan saw the creature in time and shot the opponent down.

“Oh my gosh! I got one! Woohoo! First try!” He celebrated with glee. However, as he got overconfident, two dread knights appeared near him. They prepared to attack him simultaneously, but Zara threw her sword, piercing both of them in the chest and saving Rayan’s life. She gave a death stare at Rayan, who immediately apologized for his action. As Rayan turned around to look at the battlefield, he noticed more dread knights jumping in the air ready to attack Zara who was now unarmed.

Despite the situation, Zara remained calm as Bharath appeared and threw a sword in the air. Zara caught the sword with her right hand and immediately slashed aside another group of enemies by herself. Her soldiers were in awe, and she had them believing that they could survive this assault.

Suddenly, the dread knights halted their advance. They began to retreat, leaving the remaining fighters baffled. “Did we do it? Did we scare them all off?” asked an excited Rayan. Everyone was getting ready to let their guard down and celebrate but Zara knew better and stayed vigilant.

The sky began to darken and lightning appeared in the sky. From the cloud descended the terror of the realm, Dragkonis was right before them.

“Ah the Grasix Arena, the last remaining resistance in the realm of Diamondlot. You have done well to endure this long but I will end your suffering here.” said the dragon in a low toned voice. Her forces were scared but Zara remained calm and on the front line. She ordered the archers to fire at will but the dragon’s iron scaled skin was too tough for their arrows. In retaliation, the colossal titan slammed his claw onto the ground causing a massive rock wave, taking out all the archers in a single strike.

Zara managed to escape the attack but the situation was not in her favour. Realizing the battle was a losing cause, she turned to her remaining comrades; Bharath, Rayan, and Elle Chandra. “There is no point in risking your lives, I will stay and distract this beast as long as I can, the rest of you run.” she ordered. The three disagreed but Zara adamantly told them to leave as there wasn’t much time left.

Drawing out her sword, Zara now faced Dragkonis alone or so she thought. Rayan and Bharath came up and stood beside her. They refused to leave as they wanted to stand alongside their fierceless leader. Zara finally accepted that she couldn’t change their mind but as the three of them stood together, Dragkonis wasted no time, “Fools! You shall all perish together!” and a huge stream of fire came from its mouth heading straight for them.

The three fighters embraced themselves to take the attack but Elle Chandra pushed all three of them out of the way and saved them from the inferno blaze. Unfortunately, that meant Elle Chandra took the attack and was now in critical condition.

Rayan and Bharath hit the ground hard and were struggling to get up. Zara managed to pull herself together and make her way to her injured comrade. Elle Chandra had major burns throughout her body and seeing this made Zara mad but there was little she could do.

“Weak! Weak and absolutely powerless to stop me!” the dragon gloated. As it readied itself to land the finishing blow, a stone was thrown on its head, drawing its attention away from Zara. The dragon’s body shifted in a 180 degree fashion and saw that the cavalry had arrived. Nayda and Jiyah stood at the front and behind them were: Maggie, Jawad, Kabir, Cole, Ishaan, Eshaan, Aaryav, Ranak, Amisha, and Birkaran.

They all stared at the massive foe before them. “Everyone know the plan?” Nadya asked. She looked to her left and right and saw that they all confirmed. “Let’s go take him out!” Jiyah shouted and that signaled them all to draw their weapons to charge towards the giant dragon.

First up were Cole and Jawad, using a combination of their magic they conjured up fire mangos ammunition, directing them at their target. The attacks made contact against the tough scales of the dragon but seemed to have little effect. Feeling insulted by the weak attack, Dragkonis released a fireball that was at least twenty times as powerful. Both Cole and Jawad successfully dodged the attack.

With the dragon’s attention diverted, Birkaran was able to jump up and latch onto the neck of the giant reptile. The beast attempted to shake the ogre off his neck but Birkaran hung on with all his strength. This allowed Kabir to cast a massive blast of ice to freeze the dragon’s wings to limit its mobility.

Now that most of Dragkonis’ wings were encased in ice, Ishaan threw multiple poison needles against the less protected areas of the dragon. The beast could feel its muscles weakening, and this allowed the perfect opportunity for Aaryav, Ranak, Eshaan, and Amisha to jump in. They each had a rope which they tied around the legs of the dragon and they made sure they held onto the rope with all their might.

Each one of the dragon’s limbs were now entangled and its wings were frozen. With their enemy heavily restrained, Riya the monkey, carrying a rope on her back, began to climb up the mighty creature. Once she was at the middle of its neck, she tied the rope around the scaly beast and threw the rope down for Jiyah to receive. She grabbed the reins with all her might and joined her allies' effort in keeping the dragon bound to the ground.

Maggie drew out her cutlass, and Nadya pulled out her two swords. They began rushing towards the heavily binded beast with their weapons, ready to strike the critical part of the dragon’s body, its spine.

As they were closing the distance, dread knights began appearing to defend their master. Maggie stayed behind to deal with the minions and allow Nadya to advance towards the beast. However, more reinforcements kept appearing and Nadya had to deal with the immediate nuisance.

From behind her an arrow was fired, taking out one of the dread knights. Nadya turned around to see that Rayan was giving her support from the back. Bharath arrived to give him another quiver of arrows, “Keep them coming Bharath!” Rayan encouraged. “I’m making these arrows as fast as I can!” The blacksmith replied.

As Rayan did his best to take out as many dread knights from range, Zara came storming in again with her sword , slashing away at another wave of enemies. “Go, we will hold them off!” The captain of the arena commanded. And Nadya continued to fight through the little resistance that was left.

She had finally climbed onto the back of the dragon. Dragkonis was weakened from the poisoned darts that Ishaan had thrown and was still restricted to the ground by everyone else’s efforts. Nadya closed her eyes, took a deep breath in and gathered all her strength into her two arms. She drove the two swords deep into the beast’s critical spot and then pulled them out with all her might.

The dragon began to bleed to and the pain radiated through its entire body causing it to release a deafening cry. The pain awakened it from its weakened state as it slammed the ground with its claws, creating a shockwave that knocked down everyone who was restraining his legs. Dragkonis then shook Birkaran off from his neck, then fired a massive stream of fire to take out the three mages. Finally, it shattered the ice that was encasing its wings, meaning it was freed from all the restraints that were imposed on him.
