Pokemon Rebellion
Chapter 11
Reason We Fight
Although the sun had risen, the team was too exhausted to continue on their journey after a grueling battle against Darkrai. Zaid went to collect the stone he threw before falling quickly to a deep sleep. He was finally able to get some rest after a sleepless night from horror stories. Chloe was also resting after absorbing the bulk of the massive shock attack. Greninja had been called back to his pokeball to rest, so the only members still awake were Da-Wei and Armaan.
“You should get some rest as well. You probably didn’t get much rest from being on watch.” Da-Wei directed to his teammate. Armaan saw this as an opportunity to ask Da-Wei some questions he had been curious about for awhile. “So how did you and Chloe end up in ‘The Relevant?’ And why did you seem so keen on accepting this mission?” Da-Wei took a deep breath, sat back as he prepared to share his story with Armaan.
Growing up within the city, Da-Wei and Chloe each had an older brother who were both 2 years older than them. They were the best of friends, despite having very different personalities. Da-Wei’s brother was the more blazing and raging fire-type while Chloe’s brother was the more crafty and mindful psychic-type. Despite their differences they both shared a huge sense of adventure and knew that one day they would leave the city and go explore the world beyond.
One night, they came up with a plan to sneak out of the city while everyone was asleep. Unfortunately both of their younger siblings caught them in the act. The older siblings begged them not to tell their parents. They promised they would return by morning and bring back a rare item from the forest to them! Tempted by the offer, Chloe and Da-Wei agreed to the deal, allowing their brothers to wander into the unknown.
When morning came, Chloe and Da-Wei waited for their brothers to return but they never showed. Days, weeks, and months passed by without any word of them. They always thought about that night where they could have prevented their brothers from being lost.
Eventually, Da-Wei and Chloe joined ‘The Relevant’ after Colonel Justine saw potential in them. Overtime, they got to know General Corrin who told them one day he would need to create a special force for a mission in the forest. So the younger siblings trained hard to become part of that team in hopes one day, they could venture into the wilds for a chance to find their brothers.
After hearing his story, Armaan saw Da-Wei with a new light. He had no idea he was carrying such a burden on his shoulders. Da-Wei stood up getting ready to patrol the area, “You should get some rest, we got a long road ahead. “Armaan acknowledged what he said as he let out a yawn. Before lying down, he decided to say some last words, “Hey Da-Wei, I hope you and Chloe find your brothers some day.” Da-Wei stopped and ever so slightly he gave a smile and thanked Armaan for his kind words.
