Pokemon Rebellion
Chapter 2
Beginnings
After the attack against the city that happened years ago, there hadn’t been any major assault coming from the pokemon. Many people continued living their lives as if nothing had happened. Most adults put their efforts to repair the gates and the walls from the previous attack while children still attended school like they normally would.
Within the city there was a particular school called Diamond Academy. A small school with about 200 students total from Kindergarten to grade 12. At this school there was a boy in the grade 7 class named Armaan. Armaan was a very bright student who scored the top of every subject within his class. He was the tallest in his class and was an incredibly nice fellow. However, even though he was a great student with a kind heart, he never really connected with anyone within his class. There were many great individuals in his class but they just never found common ground.
Everyday after school was over, Armaan would leave school on his own and make his way to an abandoned hut in a very quiet part of the city. Almost no one would even consider going near such a place which made it the perfect hideout. Once he entered into the abandoned hut, he called out, “Hey I’m back, it's safe to come out now.” Out from the covers hopped out a blue frog pokemon named Froakie. Armaan took out some food that was wrapped up in his pocket and put it on the floor for the Froakie to eat.
Once the food was placed, Froakie went all out and devoured the food in minutes. It was clear that the blue critter trusted Armaan and they had developed a solid friendship for years. It was about 4 years ago when they first met:
The city was surrounded by a 20 feet tall wall and a heavy reinforced gate. However, people were still allowed out of the city wall within reasonable distance. They were allowed to venture out to the nearby fields and rivers but never beyond into the forest. Many who step foot in the forest have never been seen again.
On a beautiful sunny day, Armaan and his class were out on a field trip to see the wonders beyond the gates. Any day away from the scene of the classroom was an exciting day especially at that age. Most of the kids were just filled with energy and spent most of the time just running and chasing each other around. Armaan didn’t feel like playing with the big group so he decided to find a nice rock to sit on to read his books. He would often read up on stories about the history of pokemon. He would spend hours reading up on past legends of pokemon trainers, how they would roam the land and go on epic adventures to catch pokemon, train them up and have them battle other trainer’s pokemon. They would test their skills among top trainers called gym leaders where they would acquire badges for achieving victory against them. Once enough badges were acquired the trainer would enter in the pokemon league to take on the elites of the world in order to become a champion. He was enamored by pokemon themselves: the blazing fires of a Charizard, the strength of a Machamp, the ferocity of a Gyrados, the mysteriousness of an Alazakam, and the eeriness of the haunted Gengar. But, the pokemon that caught his attention most was the ninja frog pokemon Greninja. Although it was not as tough as some of the other pokemon, it was fast and able to quickly strike down its opponent using its speed and stealth. He dreamed of having one as his pokemon companion but under the current circumstances his world was in, it seemed improbable.
As he continued to read, he was approached by a fellow classmate, the class bully Reevmrak and his sidekick Aynat. They weren’t the toughest bullies but they were still bullies nonetheless. Both of them were ridiculing Armaan for liking pokemon, the enemy of humans! His feelings were severely hurt, and as he dropped his guard, Aynat swiftly snatched the book from his hands. “Hey! Give it back!” He cried but Aynat passed the book over his head and onto Reevmrak’s hand. Reevmrak then used all his force to throw the book as far as he possibly could into a tall grassy field. The book was now out of sight and somewhere covered by all the grass. Armaan quickly began searching while the two bullies dispersed and went back to playing elsewhere.
Minutes had passed and there was no sign of the book. Armaan was frantically pushing the grass aside but it would just fling back and cover the area again. Time was of the essence, he knew he didn't have long before he had to return back and meet with the class. As he continued to scrounge around, he tripped over something and fell on his belly. He got up and tried to look for what had caused him to stumble, hoping it was his book. As he uncovered the area, he found something that he never thought he would find, a blue frog pokemon named Froakie.
He was filled with excitement and couldn’t wait to tell everyone about the pokemon he found. However, he remembered all the stories he had been reading and how the people were still at war with the pokemon. Along with what he just experienced with some of his fellow classmates insulting pokemon, he knew this poor Froakie wouldn’t see the light of day again. Armaan crouched down to get a closer look at the blue frog and saw that it was badly hurt. Armaan had to think fast, he realized he had his backpack with him so he wrapped up the Froakie with some of the grass in the field and put it into his backpack. Luckily the pokemon fit perfectly in his bag and he left the zipper open enough to give it some air. Then he quickly returned back to his class members and headed on home.
At the end of the school day, he managed to acquire some first aid supplies from the school before heading out and finding an abandoned shelter that wasn’t in a super busy area. His first attempt to treat its wounds were not very successful as it woke up and threw a mini tantrum. However, its pain grew too much for it and it was forced to stay still while Armaan slowly tended to his wounds. After it was all patched up it was still too injured to venture out on its own so it listened to Armaan and stayed until it’s wounds would heal.
From then on, everyday after school Armaan would visit Froakie and give him some food and keep him company. Slowly Froakie became more open and trusting of Armaan and they became very close friends despite a very rocky start to their friendship.
Now four years have passed, and the wounds have completely healed. Armaan knew that one day he would have to make the tough choice of letting Froakie go. However, with each passing day, their friendship grew making it hard to part ways.
